Connect. Nurture. Grow.
The Institute of Educational Advancement (IEA)
Raising a gifted child is a gift. It’s can also be exhausting. Frustrating. And just wait till they’re teenagers. Often parents don’t understand what being gifted means or how to best help. And surprisingly, there are few resources and a great deal of neglect.
Currently, of the $70 billion earmarked for education $11 billion goes special needs with only $10 million going to gifted education. And while gifted children make up 5-7 percent of all students, 75 percent receive little to no services. Without the support gifted kids can grow into students with low performance and emotional challenges (20 % of all high school dropouts are gifted).
For 16 years, the Institute for Educational Advancement (www.educationaladvancement.org) has been a national leader in creating real world solutions to help “gifted children grow and live a purposeful and meaningful life in whatever they choose.” And in addition to offering programs and camps for the gifted, IEA offers the only need based, merit blind high school scholarship in the nation.
Blend developed a new website for IEA that, like an incline pool, allowed visitors to easily access the site based off their level of interest and need. Efforts were informed by an on-line digital analysis of IEA competitors, and supported by a media effort to promote IEA locally and nationally. Additionally, Blend provided hands on web and Word Press training so that IEA staff could manage both on-line and web content moving forward. The result? Parents are finding the resources they need and gifted kids are discovering “their tribe” and true gifts.
